v Exeter City 26.02.13: predictions; other pre game stuff; the game itself

Another low scoring game. The defence is looking good with only one goal conceded in 5 games, but a fluke goal or bad decision is always possible. As another poster said, Exeter will tighten up - so a low scoing draw or a single goal win is likely.

Time we had a 1-0 home win, even if the winner comes off Calvin Andrews mangina again, don't care as long as they dont do a Morecambe 'hit and run' 1-0 on us again.

Dont know if anyone has noticed, but we play no fewer than six of the top eleven at Vale Park.

Apart from Rotherham we haven't had good results at home against teams that are half decent, so if we only get a couple of wins from those games don't be surprised.

The good news is that in our last 9 away games, we have won 6 and drawn 3, and played and beaten Gillingham and Rotherham and drawn with Southend and Cheltenham - it is quite possible that nobody will beat Vale twice this season but so far we have only done the double over Plymouth Argyle.

Will be interesting to see if Hughes starts if he is fit against Exeter on tuesday.

We did the double over Rotherham as well....

I'm a bit nervous about this one. A game we must avoid losing.

The pitch isn't helping the team play to its strengths, but I do hope (and I think MA hopes this too judging from his interview) that Exeter will try to play to win the game. This will give us opportunities. If they park the bus, I just hope we don't get the misfortune we had against Morecambe.

Hopefully one or two of the teams around the play-offs will also slip up.

2:0 vale Jmw and hughesy (if he is better)

I would start with pope and Andrews up front as it would be harsh to drop Andrews after his performance this week. At half time bring Hughes on for either of the front 2.

Popes goal record in the last few games has to put even his position under threat. Which isn't a bad thing with the squad we have.
