wifi on match days

At most bigger clubs it is impossible to use Wi-fi even when the service is provided as the network gets overloaded anyway during periods when you would want to use it, i.e. at half time. I can never see the day when someone claims "I would love to see the Vale but until they get wi-fi I will stay at home".

Thats a fair point, but its something really simple that adds value to the whole experience.

By the sounds of it you can use it as a tool to better connect with the fans and increase the revenue from the fans and the sponsors. But like you say maybe its something that is pie in the sky at a club like Vale.

Well its because if you use your phone a fair bit then the data charges can get quite high if you dont look to Wifi options.

There is only meant to be 3 who offer unlimited data - which is a good deal, just shame the coverage isnt too good when you get out of the city centre.

no issues on 3G here, I'm with vodafone. it's as pointless as wifi in restaurants/shops.

and don't get me started on people who go on holiday and use wifi in the hotels...

Problems with certain sites/apps at halftime is probably due to high peak demand on that site rather than the signal strength.

There are at least three different tariff users in our group, and all slow down dramatically during half time, presumably due to the amount using it at the same time. No problems either side of it though.

Not bad enough to make me want to pay extra for though I do think its a great idea. The added benefits similar to what Jacko mentioned would be excellent if financially viable. Even some of the interviews or highlights from the last game which are already done for valiant player or the football league app would be a start. Adding an interactive element where people can have conversations, vote for man of the match, share pictures/vids taken during the match etc would be extremely forward thinking. And would tempt me to pay for it.

Looks like O2 provide a service which would take care of this plus give the club the kind of customer and marketing data some are talking about in this thread: https://www.o2wifi.co.uk/venue/services

I wonder what the cost is to the business. It would be a real selling point for the conference side of VP as well as building that customer experience.

well thats a mobile mast Melv, where this wifi i guess uses the o2 internet which is provided at the exchange.

if the club has connections with the mobile conpanies then you would hope any deal could be possible.

Deakin probably sold it.
