Southend have hit form too soon and will probably have a 'drop off' as at our level teams are not able to do it consistently.

 

Mine and my mates 40:1 on the Vale looks better by the week.

 

Im glad i took a punt at that. I agree about Southend, they will have a dip in form soon.

Correct........And being pro active in the January window signing players who can improve and send out a message to the rest of the league will be a massive boost

 

Just a thought. If Smurf is doing a bit a Coventry, what are the chances that we may pick players up from them?

Southend could be useful if they are a form team that will fade. They can have some form now, get tired and stretched taking points of the other top teams and we can play them later on.

Bradford have 3 extra games in January, Crewe on the Tuesday before they play us and Villa on the Tuesday after with the fixture pile up they have injuries will slow them down.

 

Bradford may well find that their cup success in two competitions is a two-edged sword. Remember our 1992-93 season? We made it all the way to Wembley in the Autoglass where we beat Stockport 2-1 only to lose the following week in the play off final to West Brom, a team we'd beaten home and away. We were pipped at the post to automatic promotion by Bolton who had an amazing run losing only once in their last 18 games. In the end, it was just all too much for us.

 

The moral of the story is a) getting knocked out of the cup is not necessarily a bad thing if your priority is promotion b) a late run is the best one (puts the fear of God into everyone else) and c) avoid the play offs at all costs, they're just a lottery. We need to go one game at a time and not worry about other teams' results. If we keep winning and drawing enough to average two points a game, we should do it.

Southend are on a tremendous run but we have more points. They will dip at some point as all teams will have a dodgy spell, injuries, suspensions etc
