I reckon at the time, Ryder was the only show in town, there was no-one else interested, hence Bob had to keep coming out and extending deadlines, which in turn made him look quite silly.

 

However, i'd say hes now pretty much saved face with this, on the face of it, marvellous deal.

Bob Young had a tough job to do, trying to keep both prospective buyers and supporters onside.

 

It's fair to say that no other type of business has customers quite like the football supporter, and that makes the job of the administrator doubly hard. In the end Vale came out of it well, for which we owe Bob a debt of gratitude.

 

Yes, I'm sure Bob made plenty of money out of it for Begbies, but that's his job - he could just have easily done his job and made money for Begbies by liquidating Port Vale. That he didn't says something about his ability and about him.

BY & Begbies have done a sterling job. To blame them for the Ryder debacle is madness- KR did everything asked of him but sign! The administrators steadied a very rocky ship and made us sustainable enough for Micky to get us to where we are in the league- and that deserves nothing but massive thanks
