This goes to show just how good he really is.

I think he's ready to step in to Marc Richards' shoes, he's always had the class just not the backing from the fans and therefore lost his confidence.

This'll be your season Popey, top stuff mate.

He's always had the class?!?! Your clearly trying to wind people up. Pope is a player with very little class who tries his heart out. Hopefully won't start this season, to say hes ready to step in ricos boots is ludicrous

Popey is a decent lge2 player nothing more.not slagging him off here, just rico was in different league. but i do believe with better service popey could be worth 10-15 goals. These games mean naff all. games vs lge opposition.during the summer are better judges.

Wish the lad well...hope he has a cracking season.

Popey is an asset to any league 2 side. Does all the hard work, provides more assists than David Beckham, and now it looks like he's found his shooting boots. There is a reason why Rotherham paid £250k for him. Dario Gradi was very keen on keeping him at Gresty Road as well, which says a lot.

Go arrrn Popey lad.

At the end of the day Pope is a Port Vale player & as such i will support him, however he really needs to up his game next season as 5 goals with the amount of games he had, just wasn't good enough. I do think he will benefit from the players that have come in, regarding service for himself & hope he gets into double figures. He does the the ugly stuff well, but as a striker he needs to be hitting the back of the net more. Pre season is good for confidence, if you can keep winning, i think Pope may well of suffered in that department last season, so netting a few in pre season can only be good thing going into next season. I think we'll have a better indication just how good we actually are when Coventry & Tranmere come to town, but again, it's only when the season proper comes that it actually matters. Let's hope we have a cracking season, Pope included, so we can all have something to celebrate come this time next year.
