January Transfers and Rumours

End of the season  I'd like to see James Wilson get a long term contract cos since he's come back in the team the guy has been absolute pure class , in my opinion.

Agree: he is so so important to how we play. It’s no surprise that we’re now starting to score more goals, and how good we were at the start of the season.

what we need now is a back up for him. Someone who we can rotate or bring on so we can manage Wilson’s fitness and not struggle when or if he goes off. There must be a young lad with good pedigree in the England youth set up who can do this? Someone we can take on loan like Alfie or Ollie

By the time Andy Jones was 25 we'd sold him to Charlton and they were pestering us to see if we'd take him back!

Think that’s off one of those dodgy rumours pages on Twitter. That page also said we are on a “playoff push” which is a good clue how much stock should put in it.

yeah i saw the play off push 😭😭😭

Meanwhile rumoured target Jake young set to join Carlisle, with other rumoured target Michael Mellon set to join Dundee.

The only thing I can see linking Jake Young to Carlisle is some very dodgy transfer rumour twitter page.

Nothing concrete either on Mellon joining Dundee. Just news that they have joined the chase

Now he has decided to focus on being a footballer you mean? 😂

It is one of the busy seasons for transfers, players and agents will be all over the place looking for moves. Some of the dodgy rumours are probably based on truth but the final destination of any players is down to the deal on offer.

Where have you read that he is 'set' to join carlisle?

You don't even know what you put

Oh yes I do.

As I said, 3600 so probably closer to their average crowd than the 17,700 I was quoting against.

You can carry it on but you are wrong.

I think Wilson defo worth offering willo an extra year in the summer , for me  fitness is a bit if an issue  but I reckon he wouldn't be out of place in the championship..# class

So you think we are on for promotion then Nippy ?

Personally, I think we could be pushing for this within 2 years,  "IF"* we could stop conceding goals and carry on scoring goals at a good rate we'd be able to compete at least for the play-offs

*My old Sales Manager used to say that "IF" is a very small word with a very big meaning. 😎

Carlisle doing everything to stay in the league. Sidibeh would clearly be a gamble and these haven’t paid off in the past, he is the kind of player I would want us to be after though.

Ian Taylor...??  Didnt he come from Solihull Moores

With Crosby as manager?

No don't be Daft, 😆 was thinking of  when we get an experienced manager in

I guess Ian Taylor was probably the last one we had from a very low level to 'make it' big as such.  Although it depends what we deem as making it?  He'd be the exception rather than the rule generally as he went on to play Premier league level with Villa.  Rob Taylor for example was a steady League Two player for us and came from Nuneaton who I think we're NLN level(or equivalent at the time)

I think most of us would be happy if we could get someone who'd "do a job" at league one level to a degree. Particularly if they came from levels below the 2 NL tiers, I'd imagine it's rare to find someone from the Northern Premier/North West Counties who would go on to be good enough for the championship or even better.

Although Debrah came from non league for example he came through the youth ranks at Millwall so isn't alien to a bigger (pro)club environment.

Depends whether we are always after developing someone for a profit a year or 2 down the line or someone to help the team who may become just a squad player in time? But isn't necessarily rubbish at League One level(just a steady eddie) then perhaps moves on to League Two or NL after us and gets a decent lower league career out of it.
