Whatever they said about big bad Billy, at least he oversaw a succesful decade that saw us in as the potteries number One club

 

At least he let the manager buy players (great players), at least he helped to develop an eyesore of a ground..

 

At least he had Vale at heart.. even if he did 'line his own pockets'

 

The best chairman Vale could have asked for. Just dont do any repairs on his house;)

Billy was / is as wide as a bus but you can't deny his achievements, even if having John Rudge was probably his greatest asset. However, let's not forget that the end of his reign was also almost the end of the club. We only look backwards less harshly now because the mob that followed him have made him look like a saint in comparison.

 

Still, thanks for the good times Billy!

Thank you to the man that along with a true managerial god gave me some of the happiest days of my footballing life. Ones for which I dont tink we will ever get back again unfortunately.

 

Bill if your reading this, if you could find it in yourself to come over the hill on a white charger, I for one would welcome you with open arms. Happy Birthday to the greatest chairman in the clubs history end of.

For all his faults and short comings I would still have him back in his prime,at least some of the money generated found its way back to the team whereas with this lot all of it ends up in the Directors pockets and I have often wondered if Bell was that bad why didnt John Rudge leave ....he had many opportunities

The point is was making is that current problems, which I recognise and agree are certainly down to some very bad decisions by Valiant2001 should not colour the facts regarding Bell.

If OVF was about in the bell era he wouldnt have lasted half as long as he did. Rudge would have been hounded out in his first 6 months too.
