Of course wait times improved. We couldn't afford the increases in spending however could we?

You should really be a major cheer leader of the current Government too. Far better than anything else available.

Great still to be in the EU getting the extra money from them too

You are really promoting the EU when many of their member states have this week shut their borders to people and some goods?

Lets not pretend that the EU is a land of plenty. I know too many Greeks and young Spaniards to know that this is not true.

So you agree that the EU can control their own borders?

The EU can yes. Member states can only control their own borders if the EU allows them to.

All EU countries , as well as the ones that were surrounded  by water,  can for medical etc reasons as well as economic ones temporarily close their borders, facts the UK papers ignored.

True. We could have closed our borders to the 10 Eastern European countries who joined the EU in the mid 2000s but the Uk was one of only three EU countries that didn’t do so.

Quick question - Can an EU country democratically decide to end the free movement of people and remain within the EU?

And I don't mean temporarily, and I don't mean when there is a health (or other) emergency.

Any country that isn't signed up to the Schengen Agreement can do that surely, RB?

As long as you are not in the EU. Free movement of labour is a fundamental principle of the EU and they would have the power to fine any member who created a law which was not compatible with it.
