Aspin stepped down

Many thanks to Neil Aspin and Lee Nogan for trying. I think he has been successful in three ways. We didn't get relegated. The club is more stable than in the second half of 2016/17 and first half of 2017/18. We do have players with potential that he has recruited. I agree he has been unlucky many times. It’s amazing that when it doesn’t work out for football managers, that prior to their departures, they have to undergo such vile animosity, no matter how good a person they are. They are deemed to be amongst the worst criminals of society, but that’s how fans seem to judge a manager who doesn’t win enough football matches.

 

Best of luck Neil in your future ventures. OK it’s not been great here, but at least you’ve managed to keep your dignity and integrity. Thanks for giving it your best.

Like death and taxes, the one inevitable consequence of being a football manager is that sooner or later you’ll get sacked.

 

Sad day for the club, and despite being quite a vocal critic of his management, The only crumb of comfort I take from today as there is hope that we get “the new manager bounce” and string 3 or 4 wins together to crawl towards safety. If he’d stayed, he’d have taken us down. And given what he did as a player, it would have been so harsh for him to remembered as the man who took us out of the Football League.

It makes sense to me now why Aspo left. He’d managed to get the squad size down to 20 odd and wanted to add 2-3 players but we’ve ended up bringing in 7 cheap kids instead.

 

The squad looks like the chairman again now - bloated.
