Adam Yates Abusing Fans?

It's been mentioned on another thread by a couple of posters who attended the game away at Grimsby tonight.

 

If this is the case then an official complaint should be made to the club.

 

Many a much better Vale player has taken grief from Vale fans down the years but I don't ever recall any telling their own fans to "**** off" and if this is true should be dealt with in the strongest possible disciplinary manner.

 

The 112 / 116 hardy fans that attended didn't deserve that after the disgusting performance they had to endure.

 

Players really do need a reality check and this for me if true is yet another ugly, ugly step too far.

Wouldn't mind if he deserved a shirt week in week out, but he's awful.

 

Four crosses tonight all in second half resulted in one over the stand and three not beating the first man. He then obviously got some stick and rightly so, to which he turned around and Told the vale fans to fu ck off.....

 

Unbelievable!!!

 

Should never pull a shirt on again.

Does his reaction imply that he thinks the fans are unjustly criticising him? If I was playing as badly as Yates I would accept the abuse as a just dessert for my performance.

I see your point, but he didn't say anything like "I'm on my own over here" or "they have to come short", showing the fans he was working hard and trying to create something they would want - instead he just wound up the fans even more, showing that he doesn't care what the fans think or say unless it's unjust praise or support. Giving the fans some constructive banter back would show the sort of passion people want to see - but instead he has alienated them even more.

I like Yatesy. He may not be the best but he's still putting in the effort and it was a very slippy surface tonight. He's only a youngster and whilst I expect better from a pro, it was so quiet tonight you could hear every insult from the VALE "supporters" to my left.

I've never done more than mutter "of for cliff's sake" under my breath. What's the point of getting at your OWN team???

No excuse, I don't agree with abusing or booing players during games but what he had done is cross the line big time if he really did do it.

Going back a while I know, but I can remember an angry exchange at Watford during a 5 -2 defeat. I'm getting on a bit now, but have it in my mind it involved Aspin and it wasn't exactly pleasant. :D

Anyone else remember who it was, what was said?
