A right mess indeed. For me , the Trippier foul occured outside the penalty area. The decision on the yellow for Son was correct , as he stopped on his run up. Indirect Free Kick going out . Spurs first disallowed goal looked ok to me.

Spurs have now taken the lead . Whew! Blue lines, snow, it’s all going on.

 

Law 14 days “Feinting in the run-up to take a penalty kick to confuse opponents is permitted as part of football. However, feinting to kick the ball once the player has completed his run-up is considered an infringement of Law 14 and an act of unsporting behaviour for which the player must be cautioned."

 

Nowt wrong with Son’s penalty. Ref cock up.

There's a difference between feinting and stopping dead, which Son did. Therefore, it's Unsporting Behavior, which is an Indirect Free Kick

to the opposing team. Which is why the ref had his arm up. Caution for UB was correct.

As I’ve commented before, VAR is a nonsense and should be abandoned with immediate effect. People will see exactly the same incident but come to a different conclusion, so you will never get the “correct” decision. As has been pointed out above, some people don’t even know the Laws Of The Game ! Get rid of it now and let’s get back to talking about the football, not technology that doesn’t work.
