Goes without saying.

 

 

When I saw the 5 second clip at 9.30 on Wednesday morning of a 73 year old man walking across a car park, it reduced me, a 36 year old man to tears. THAT is how much JR means to me. I didn't even cry when my son was born.

In the car today I started day dreaming of JR walking onto the pitch on Saturday and the crowd singing a rendition of "Johnny Rudges Black and White army". Again, I started welling up.

It's surprised me the effect this announcement has had on me.

Bloody love Vale!

 

I felt the same , I just hope that fans remember that it’s Neil who’s the manager not John rudge , As much as I love them both and I don’t think he would but I wouldn’t want Neil to get annoyed that the attention is all on rudge .

The whole legend thing is open to interpretation depending on many factors. Cult status or legend .

My own are Bob Newton and Darren Beckford.

It's like when someone passes away and are described as a ' national treasure ' , this tag was even applied to Cheryl Cole !!

 

Totally gone off at a tangent here really.

 

All I ask as a fan whether you are at Vale for 1 season or 10 seasons is that you give your all and try your damndest .

Both Aspin and Rudge did that so any failure will not tarnish their status.

Deano was ripped apart by his failings as a manager. It doesn't affect his legendary status as a player and never will.

Good, so if it doesn't go too well, or even worse Vale get relegated you won't be one of the fans running them out of Burslem with burning torches. If that is pointless to you then so be it.

I don't understand the argument of "they are legends so I don't want them back to ruin their names"? Surely if he doesn't do a good job you can simply separate it into saying great player for us, but a **** manager? If he doesn't do well, why the hell would anyone say he is a waste of time and completely forget what they achieved in the past in a completely different job?

 

They are already legends, if things go **** up it's not going to change that

 

Just sign it!
