Matchday Thread: Bolton Wanderers v Port Vale

We never got going against Sheffield United.

 

We didn't get going against Charlton either, we were gifted a goal we didn't deserve.

 

We only started looking better at Bolton once they eased off. The game was well gone at that point.

 

There have been games this season when we have started slowly and fought back, while there have been others where we started poorly and remained poor.

I've said that about Grant before excellent when he plays well but when he has a stinker he has one! Holds on to it far too long at times!

 

Granty does get caught in possession far too often which gives our defence massive problems.If we insist in playing out from the back we either have to play out a lot quicker or play over the press, which requires numbers up front to both receive and hold on to the ball.

The answer is simple. We haven't changed. Other teams have. What has happened is that we took teams by surprise in August but they have now scouted us and watched DVDs - coming to the conclusion that if you press us high up the pitch we will gift you a few goals and then it's game over because we create fewer chances than any other team in the League.

 

A fair assessment I think. I'll go with that theory.

Bruno seems to put players through a 'rotation' process is this because he doesnt know his strongest team or he just wants to keep players happy or that the shirt goes to the best players who give their all in training that week??

Amoros who was our best player against MK hasnt featured at all since and Kelly who has been out of the picture a while suddenly comes in and is played as a no 10!!

Bruno needs to quickly establish his best eleven and stop tinkering and please play with two upfront...everytime we change it to this we murder teams in the second half!!
