I am dead against having 'academy' cum B teams in this competition and I fully support Norman's position. So, in order to avoid giving the new format credibility I shall not attend BUT in order to support the club and Mr Smurf I shall make a purchase from the club shop to make my contribution to covering the club's costs of having to play.

Everyone must do as they see fit over this issue without us ripping into each other over it.

Absolutely agree, I support Port Vale and not this ridiculous completion.

 

However I am willing to bet if we get through to the later stages, many of the doubters will want tickets.

 

Suggestion to Smurf, who also does not agree with the "B" team inclusion,

Give priority for tickets to anyone who goes to the home games if get to the Quarter Finals and onward!!!

 

There's absolutely no chance of any home game being all ticket, and have you seen how many Wembley holds? The only time all-ticket in the JPT will ever come about is if we end up in the regional final/semi final away against a team with a tiny away end (eg Burton). Then season ticket holders will have preference like always.

Struggling to understand the "I support Port Vale but not the competition". By going tonight you are supporting the competition, and ironically, may not have a Port Vale to support in a few years time if this takes off.

as a vale fan first and foremost I would like to attend tonight's game but won't on principle. league teams should not be playing against u23 teams from clubs outside of leagues 1 & 2 in this competition. people should not kid themselves that this is anything other than the first step on the road to vale playing sunderland, Blackburn , burton, Bournemouth reserves in the league as part of the proposed 5 tier system. turning your heads and closing your eyes will not make this go away . when we play against another league side I will attend but watching u23's not a chance . prem lge bosses have bought (some) league chairman (not ours , well done smurf) with a few coppers ,ultimately they care not for the lower leagues and they look at this competition as a play thing for them.

I have now decided not to go tonight,i will go the home game against a league team but not parting with a tenner to watch Vale play a Derby u23 team

I'm going. Anyone who thinks boycotting will do any good when crowds are naturally poor anyway is wrong in my opinion. Plus the big boys never listen to the fans anyway!
