Vale promotion odds

Whilst I think backing us for promotion at this point is a genuine gamble seeing as we have such a radically different and unknown team I struggle to understand how all the bookies YET AGAIN have us down as second favourites for relegation, even after we've signed loads of players and still have a core of players who spent most of last season in the top half of the table. Virtually every year we're tipped to go down, even if we did well the previous season. Bookies must have some kind of pre-determined idea that a team not named after a place are doomed to fail, they never even have us as a mid-table side.

It's possible we may go down this year, we'll have to see if the manager and new look team are actually any good, but surely teams who've lost their better players and haven't replaced them such as Oldham, Bury, Swindon, Chesterfield (apart from the risk of Ched Evans) and maybe even Wimbledon, Fleetwood, Scunthorpe and Rochdale, must be at a greater risk than us?

I don't know what to expect but I think we have enough to be at least mid table.

I notice bookies always favour Southern clubs. No matter how bad even smaller teams like Stevenage, AFC Wimbledon, Cambridge United etc ever are, it is rare these clubs get predicted dire seasons. Even when it seemed obvious that they were going to struggle when they were having tough periods or got promoted and were punching above weight.

Who on earth would rationally argue we are more likely to go down than AFC Wimbledon or Fleetwood?

Just a point to consider with bets on any team for their final position.

You are letting Bet365, Ladbrokes, Hills or whoever have your money ALL SEASON for nothing, no interest, zilch - it's stupid.

If you think Vale will do well, brt on them to win each match in the first 10 games, or if you think they will bomb, bet on them to lose - you also have the option to change your mind if it is obvious you are wrong after 4 or 5 games.

Odds have little to do with ability but everything to do with what people do with their money.

Just because people put their money on a team to get promoted doesnt mean they wont get relegated or that they are any better than the other teams in that league... the only smart money in gambling is the wad that stays in the bookies pocket

You are so smart, I bet the rich Leicester City fans who betted for them to win the league at the beginning of last season feel really mugged off with their big bank balances...

They should of listened to you!

Possibly the stupidest post of the year award.

Let's leave it in the bank and profit from that 0.5% interest rate. Crikey my ten pound bet could be 2 or 3 hundred. Or 10.05 if I leave it a year.
