I am all for a manager being in charge of transfers in and out.

It may work out in the top leagues sometimes but at our level we need one man having full control on who he wants or doesnt.

 

Seems like common sense to me,why an incoming manager would be comfortable in allowing a Chairman to choose his personnel is baffling.

I don't think anybody would be comfortable in any chairman choosing players, he may well do the pay negotiations but that is a different matter. Having a pick list ready makes the new managers life easier as long as it is prepared by people who know what they are doing. If he knows better players who are available then he would have to put their case against the pick list. Depends how well he knows the team`s strengths and weaknesses. Essential to sort out the responsibilities for player recruitment when a manager joins a club, otherwise it usually ends in failure, especially if the manager does not have the final say.

The Chairman is more than entitled to do the negotiations, its his money and budget when all said and done...............Any new manager woth his salt will have the list of players available and if he relies on Smurf to make recommendations then I'm afraid in my opinion he's not worth recruiting.

That's how I see it. A couple have left I would have "liked" to stay but I'm not put out by any of the departures

I agree. I think it's disconcerting though, the wait that's being endured and understand why some people are getting nervous. :unsure:
