Car park meeting at Accrington

Alan Baker

Recommended Posts

Mike Lloyd and Peter Jackson emerged from the main entrance at about 530 (Jim Gannon at about 630). There was a small group of fans waiting to talk to them and the impromptu meeting lasted about 11/2 hours. Here is a brief summary of what was said and I've avoided making any personal comments:

There was no offer currently on the table according to ML.

ML said that questions remain unanswered by MC.

Mo's offer was not as it seemed in the press - at which point I called LegalBeagle and he spoke to PJ. There is an apparent misunderstanding by PJ about the bid.

The Board met yesterday and did not discuss the offer or Gannon.

PJ said that the Club's bank would not work with MC and he didn't trust him.

ML suggested that the fans would blame them for appointing JG but PJ says that they hold their hands up.

PJ asked what experience Mo's CEO had of running a successful business or a football club?

PJ re-iterated that respected businessmen said not to touch MC "with a bargepole".

ML said that MC was wrong to say that the Club would go into administration.

PJ and ML were asked if they had any positive news for the fans -there will be a new CEO next week.

PJ suggested that two fans who were present ring the Club next Friday to arrange to visit and inspect all offers that the Club had received.

I said that if the current Board are in power in the summer, my family will walk away from the Club - they weren't concerned about that.

The Club is apprarently not concerned about lost ST revenue and there would be additional funding.

ML and PJ said that they were unaware of any allegations about GO.

PJ said that he would not be at the Club by the start of next season and has wanted to leave for the last 2 years .

ML welcomed the prospect of an EGM.

ML and PJ said that being a Director was not all about wining and dining.

ML said that there were no skeletons in the Club wardrobe.

ML was asked if he'd go and leave with some dignity but said not in the short-term and a lot of news was to be released in the next few weeks.

PJ was asked repeatedly if the Board had any intention of accepting MC's bid. He wouldn't comment.

PJ if you're not here next season then why not sell to MC? Stop acting like a complete *****.

"PJ said that he would not be at the Club by the start of next season and has wanted to leave for the last 2 years"

So why is he still there?

Jean, I asked him that and he said "the club is better" with him on Board. I pleaded with him to hand his vote over and walk away and he said "no" because he thinks he is doing a good job! When I told him the fans don't want him, he said he has a lot of fan support!
