I will second that, and add thanks and good wishes to everyone who works so hard to make OVF such a great provider of Vale news, views and entertainment, and especially Barry for his much appreciated generosity with his Guess The Crowd competition that we are very fortunate to enjoy on this site, and Rob for introducing the adverts free option and several new features this year.

 

Good health and contentment for the New Year, and success and progress to Vale, the Chairman, Manager and staff, and players, and all associated with the club.

The queen is a great ambassador for the UK, What she said today was insightful about her outlook as leader of the commonwealth and about current tensions in the world. Without being assertive or taking sides at all, she is very influential. I understood her role and her philosophical perspective better. It is to be polite and kind and through that to encourage everyone from that point forward to be the same. So she can meet Robert Mugabe with that intention, for example. She said several great things today, but the sentence that impressed me most is "there is an old saying that it is better to light a candle than curse the darkness". That is a tremendous resolution for the New Year.

The Queen's Speech has been the highlight of the day in my house. She was unafraid, despite increasing persecution and terrorism, to spell out the true meaning of Christmas.
