Didn't he go down to about 6 or 7 stone in hospital though? I'm sure many medical people out there would suggest that it couls take upto 12 months to get back to something like fittness after being knocked for 6 like that. Not last season but the season before (especially during our strong end of season run) he showed some real glances of talent and determination. Last pre-seasons injury wrote off his season. Gannon should have never played him as consistantly as he did during his reign as Haldane was clearly not anywhere near fit or strong enough to be playing.

He may prove not to be good enough next season, but I hope that he can show a lot more with a pre-season under his belt. I know it's too early to be reading into things, but he was definitely getting into the box far more than I'm used to seeing at Stafford on Saturday. maybe he's trying to develop this side of him game?

if haldane is up to full speed .......i'd like to see him be a lot more direct and knock the ball past players and take them on for pace ......think the insect bite took quite a lot out of him ......when doctors talk about possible amputation that shows how serious it was

Dodds, Haldane and Taylor were well below par last year, as were many other players though. They're far too inconsistent, a good pre-season with them all and they should be firing on all cylinders.

I think the three of them suffered because of Gannon's "sack the fitness, let's watch video's" approach. They are all good enough at this level, but being a step quicker than their marker is essential and they lost that- except for Haldane eho never got it back from his illness.

I thought Haldane was poor on Sunday but I'm sure a few more weeks of beasting by Micky will sort him out. As I have said before, if he was an awesome crosser or finisher, with his pace and dribbling, he wouldn't be in League Two, but these can come with time

We are a better team with him in it because he will relieve pressure on the defence by carrying the ball 50-60 yards up the pitch, and he gets us into the attacking third. No other player (Taylor maybe) does that for us.

Lets judge him at the end of this season. As the other poster said, losing 4-5 stone will really destroy an athletes body.
