It was banter nothing else whatsoever, the pair are always having a bit of banter. I enjoy Blakeman's commentary.

I've always heard Blakeman's dad is a Stoke fan so not so sure about that.. and I thought George was a Vale fan the way he got excited until I heard him commentating for Stoke. At the end of the day they get paid to get excited for whoever they're commentating on whether they support them or not. George does go to Wolverhampton speedway a lot so could be..

GA I thought was a Bham fan by birth, then moved north and adopted Vale. He still is a massive fan - look how he has such a good relationship with NS.

 

Something went on at Radio Stoke and he went working for Talk Sport, then Signal doing Stoke games. I suspect it's a job to him and he is very good at his job.

 

John Achers and Matt Sandoz are two others who are very good when they cover football matches.

I'd much prefer someone get excited (blakeman) than someone with literally no emotion or passion. It's clear that blakeman cares even if he does go over the top sometimes. I personally really enjoy lostening to him and ray together when I can't make the games.

Radio Stoke is crap these days. They put their best sports talent in the news team, to make way for Blakeman (because the new boss worked with him previously) and he is cheap and toss.

 

A good coms shows passion. There is more to that than just shouting. That's what GA was wanted by Signal and why JA now does work for BBC R5.
