It's crazy to think that last summer he was pretty much holding out on us as he thought a Championship club would come in for him.

 

What a difference a year makes.

 

If it wasn't for Tom Pope, his managerial career for he last 10-15 years would look pretty ropey.

A few seasons ago, Sligo Rovers were in the Champions League qualifiers, and giving the likes of Rosenberg a game of it.

Times have changed , and they don't have much money. They have sold most of their best players. Micky could win the cup for them though,

as the rest of the teams are not very good at all. Good luck to him, and The Bit O' Red, as they are known.

I watched Tranmere v Burton last year. Tranmere lost 4-1 at home. They had the worst defence I have seen in my 40 years watching professional soccer. It doesn't matter how good a manager you are if the material to work with is so poor. So he deserves a break. I would have thought he could have got a job as a coach at a larger club?

Yes, pleased to see him doing well. He had a torrid time at Tranmere including ex Port Vale players he gave a chance to not performing. The Irish second division is known as the cemetery so they don't want to get relegated and he is under pressure to keep them up. They have got a nice highly intelligent physio. I guess she might struggle to get a job at Chelsea but fits in well in her home town.

Sligo are a full time professional club with a nice stadium of about 4000 with scope to rebuild another stand that has been demolished. In fact they have more players than Port Vale. I don't know how the finances work, but they look a sort of Conference level club to me perhaps creeping up to league 2 level.
