Dear Mr Smurthwait

Danish Valiant

Recommended Posts

As I live abroad and have loved the Vale for the past 20+ years, I can't get to the Vale very often.

Therefor, the live stream produced for the Getafe game, really made my day!

The quality was amazing and it shows what can be done, with the clubs new internet connection.

So therefor, my plea to you is: PLEASE do this for our home games! At least the friendlies.

You can live stream via YouTube for free, and even if it doesn't have slow motion and all the fancy stuff, I would be more than happy, (as would a lot of people I'm sure!), with just a single camera in the Lorne Street Stand.

With time, I hope that Vale Player will be able to broadcast video streams. At least to fans abroad.

I read that some away games will be broadcasted via the internet and shown in Tommy Cheadles (or at least I think I read that...). And if you could make that feed available online, for a small fee of course, it's money right in the clubs pockets, as it costs next to nothing to produce! A pay-per view sort of thing, for maybe 5 or 10 punds a match. I would be more than happy to pay that into the clubs account! And it would be a way for us overseas fans, to help the club, as a season ticket is not really a viable investment to make. But a season pass for online streams would be!

I hope you read this, and is willing to answer.

Thank you very much in advance :)

I spoke to him about this a while ago, unfortunately the club is bound by Football League broadcasting rights contracts.

Maybe they can just broadcast to the foreign folk, would this affect the broadcasting rights? Plus if it was broadcast domestically, those who were thinking twice about going the match might just stay at home and watch it on th'internet.

How would we make this work? I suppose we could restrict it to those accessing the internet from a non British ISP but would that infringe European legislation? Can of worms.

I am sure I read something a year or so ago that the FL were getting all clubs to put in the infrastructure so that supporters could watch away games live. I can't remember whether this would only be available in the UK or only for supporter's abroad.
