Summer of Joy

After the poor end to the season and the need for change I think we should look back at the summer break as a good period for the club with plenty to be optimistic about;

 

We have made some potentially very good signings in Kelly, Foley, and Grant (which will strengthen the midfield assuming they start with the likes of O'Connor and Moore), as well as the signings of Purkiss and Streete (which starts the defensive change we needed) and probably signing of Inniss (who'd of thought Streete and Inniss would of made it back to VP).

 

All of which are the type of signings we could only hoped for last April/May.

 

Also we have 5 academy players coming through, with good reputations and promise.

 

We've added to the coaching staff with Bodin and Timmins, giving much needed support to RP.

 

We've also reduced other squad players wages, and released others such as Nimely, Mohammed, Robertson - as well as Williamson moving on - so again more summer of joy.

 

I know we haven't signed any strikers (yet!) but I'd rather NS and RP appoint the right strikers rather than rush into a hasty signing.

 

Also Paul Bodin will no doubt have players in mind for long term loans etc.

 

Time to look forward and rally behind the lads.

This is exactly how I feel smurf is doing a great job which is why when I got my season ticket last week i also spent 200 on vale merchandise from the shop and brought them away with me every little helps

Great post. I expect more good news in the next week or so. For me, it started negatively with the Retained List being so long but every week since I've been more positive and then last couple of weeks have been very good indeed.

 

Innis and a couple of strikers (1 experienced, 1 loan) and I think we've had a good summer.

It looks like we'll be going into the season with a centre back pairing of Innis and Streete.

Spot on opening post. An excellent pre season so far. Patience is needed over bringing in the right front men at the right price, lets face it after the performance of the front men ver the last couple of seasons its not going to be that hard to improve....
