Choosing a holiday

I wish I lived in a blue rinse brigade area instead of this s***ole. Instead I live in a elect a ** with a red rossette area

But we've got Port Vale, Wright's pies, oatcakes and brothels around Cobridge [so they tell me!) plus derelict shops in Hanley town centre, slum clearance schemes in the pipeline, holes in the roads and more charity shops than anywhere else on the planet.

And don't forget one of the biggest M&S stores in the country in Wolstanton. Just the place to get your yellow and purple Y-fronts!

They haven't got these luxuries down south. :D

It is the biggest M&S store in the country, I think they said when it was opened - last December?

It's next to Asda, just off the A500, on the Wolstanton retail park but none of that was there a few years ago.

You'd like it there. It's full of middle class women using their credit cards while their partners are at work and the car park is full of Range Rovers. ;) The cafe overlooks the city and is really quite pleasant.

I can recommend the tea-cakes and cappuccino!

We used to drive to Wilmslow as they've got a huge M&S there but this one probably pulls in customers from a 30 mile radius and must be great for business. Free parking too and plenty of it.

It's the best bit of retail news the area has had in recent years.

last year i visited peru, australia and japan - all of which were absolutely incredible and i couldn't recommend enough. especially japan.

off to galway for a long weekend at the end of the month which i'm really looking foward to.

after that the 4 places that are currently top of my list to visit and hoping to get to all 4 within the next 5 years are:

iceland

croatia

costa rica

botswana

the last 2 will take a bit more saving and preperation

can't think of a single country on the planet that i can categorically say - no i wouldn't want to visit there (although conditions in certain countries might delay or put off a visit)

i like to relax as much as the next person but nothing appeals to me less than a week sat around a pool or on a beach doing nothing
