I wouldnt want us sign lloyd owusu inless we were to bring in another striker aswell who is younger and has pace. We cant go into the season with just 2 or 3 strikers anyway it aint enough, no wonder we dont score enough goals.

Vale have to start the recruitment process somewhere, and as you rightly say, we do not have enough strikers, so I'm not sure why there is a doubt inyour mind about getting Owusu. Add a good winger and a midfield provider and he will be in his element.

As another poster said, Micky was planning to sign him just before he left for Sheffield, so he isn't a second choice by any means. I hope we get him.

There is a question mark against him, surely, because he is nearly 35, has just been released by a non league team and is clearly in the twilight of his career.

You might be right. He could turn out to be an asset but his best days are behind him and it's not rocket science to see why some fans are underwhelmed and doubtful as to his capabilities.

I think we'd want to see players who can go straight into the team and make a difference, not warm the bench. Or would you play him instead of MR or JR?

I'd rather see us sign a player who can chase balls over the top and run the channels not just hold it up, but I can see Owusu getting a few headed goals and that's something we lack, to be fair.

Good point.

In most games I watched last season I was concerned every time our opponents got a corner/free kick as their delivery always seemed to be better and more accurate than ours.

I'm probably mistaken but that's how it seemed to me. Our corners often failed to get past the defender on the near post and many of our free kicks went straight out of play - so I think you make a good point.

Kris Taylor was the only player who could deliver a decent ball into the box.

When the goals properly dried up after Christmas we normally either scored from his assists or from penalties when Popey fell over easily in the box.
