Is this really the madness to which we aspire?!

I hope the FA face up to their responsibilities and enforce the fine on Q P R. After all they are ready to suspend clubs, deduct points and ban players sine die for unpaid fines at non-league level. They could, of course, suspend Q P R from the FA Cup until the fine is paid.

Fining clubs for break the FFP rules is pointless unless the fine goes to all the teams in the same division as compensation, after all that's who has been directly affected. £1m per team may well be a nice deterrent (£41m fine in total)

Alternatively (and perhaps additionally) just deny them promotion - ie. make the FFP a term of promotion. If they don't comply they don't get promoted. Same goes for Champions League. Man City overspent and won the Premiership. UEFA could easily say, sorry no Champs League for you.

Until the FA actually start acting like a governing body the Premiership and the Chairmen of the clubs will continue to rule the roost.

What I don't understand is why the Football Legue allow these clubs to live way above their means while they put an embargo on Vale's signing a couple of players. Is this because Vale have been in administration or is it a case of one rule for one and one rule for another.

I haven't thought of it that way, but those are simple yet clever ideas. I would back them.

I think it's simply that the FFP rules were implemented earlier in Leagues One and Two. From now on, the same thing *should* apply to Championship clubs. This is from the Football League website explaining the rules:

i. Sanctions for clubs remaining in the Championship

Clubs that fail to comply with the Financial Fair Play regulations (from December 1st 2014) will be subject to a transfer embargo. This embargo will come in to force ahead of the subsequent transfer window beginning on January 1, 2015.

I quite like that..but it would be a like turkeys voting for Xmas..UEFA devaluing its own competition by having 'lesser' clubs in it cos they stuck to the financial rules

There are so many questions to be answered, given that this is the first time this has happened.

Do the FL have any jurisdiction over QPR now they are promoted?

What about player registrations? Do the FL still hold them until July 1st at least? Could QPR be prevented from signing players from the FL?
