He played 11 games for Doncaster after signing a two and a half Year contract, think I'd steer clear, can't afford passengers at this level!:)

Spot on Tosh, why isit we allways want to bring back X players.Brooker was ok first time round but come on he's well gone now.

Seem to remember he used to get a bit of stick from a certain section of the Vale fans, not as bad as Leon or Billy Paynter, but similar. Something goes wrong with a few of our fans when a player gets near the 20 goal mark.

Ha ha. That's a marvellously shrewd observation, ST3 VALIANT.

Some of these comments are daft.

Brooker certainly said that he was leaving us to go to a club that had more potential and a better chance of him playing at a higher level.

Wasn't that true? Haven't BC played in the Championship in recent years while we are in the lowest tier? He was spot on. What's the problem? Didn't Adams do a similar thing?

I would not have him back because he's injury prone now - or seems to be.

But, my word, he was an excellent player for us in Div 1 and we got our money worths out of him.

Cannot see the point of obtaining a player who can hold the ball up. We don't have any midfielders who are willing to push forward to receive the ball. IMO pace up front would be the greatest asset we could add to our current squad.

Absolutely agree with that Phil. Thats why Ashley Grimes should be the number one target IMO. Very pacy and scores goals and causes defenders to panic with him liking to run directly at players.

You are right about the need for pace - plus finishing ability.

But I have wondered about the balance of our strike force for 18 months now. MR isn't tall/strong enough to play the out and out striker. He loses too many high balls and gets knocked off the ball too easily sometimes. JR is the same.

I like a big 'un and a little 'un and we have two who both fall between two stools.

Great player for us when he was here! Used to be one of my favourites and couldn't believe some of the stick he used to get from Vale fans. Such a frightening forward line back then and he was key to some of our most memorable games in the 03/04 season... not to mention the LDV run when he signed for us!

Would I have him back now? No.
