Didn't Liverpool have a look at McPhee while he was over there? They must have thought he could do a job at that level.

Yes it was a con job by his agent to get him away for nowt as he was under 24 and the rule didn't apply that under24 command a fee if shipped abroad so McPhee became Mac Free. His agent said that Vale were a 'two bob' club.

A year later and he was up in Hull but suffered with injuries at both Hull and Blackpool and he retired on the day they won promotion.
