Players starting to blame protesters

I am more than a little disappointed to hear one or two players starting to say that the Black & Gold and other protests may have affected them and could have been partly to blame for them failing to achieve promotion. Mc Combe is the latest to say that it may have contributed.

I would like to tell them a few home truths, you failed because you haven't got the 'guts for a fight'. Is it the B&G's fault that when you go a goal behind you usually lose?. The truth is all too often you lot couldn't 'hit a pig's bum with a bango!'.

Pathetic excuse. I suppose that's why they were so rubbish on Saturday - all those black and gold scarves all round the ground.

Of course one of the reasons why the team underpreformed is because of the offield incidents it doesnt help when people chat "we s*** and were sick of it"
I never heard a single word against the players at a single protest. The players in fact were always applauded. It's a cheap shot to blame the 'real fans' for their short comings.

Excuses, excuses.

Did the protests force them down the bar 5 days before one of the biggest games of the season?

Did the protests make them collectively add 5 stone 7 while Gannon was in charge?

Excuses, excuses. All too convenient for my liking. Just admit you weren't good enough. The table doesn't lie.

It is just an excuse - the protests have actually given them more protection than they should have had

Exactly right.

They ought to stop and think about how acceptable the second half of the season has been and just how much grief they would have copped had it not been for us focussing on the boardroom rather than a promotion attempt being totally bottled with relegation form.

Where has McCombe said this?
When interviewed by RS it was suggested that the protests could have been partly responsible and he replied 'maybe it has'. Thats another player who has disappointed me.

At the end of the day 'players come players go' it's the fans that are left. Not for much longer though if Bratt is still on his 'throne' on June 2nd.===

I dare say if that is the case, it's just the latest thing they are using to hide their own failings.

First it was Adams leaving. Then Gannon coming in. Then Busgate. Then Accrington and the fans. Then Gannon leaving - remember the players were apparently saying that would be the turning point.

As Grewy said, a few of them will only realise when they don't have a club that perhaps they should have put more of a shift in during the last 6 months, and maybe, just maybe, we wouldn't be having a debate as to why they failed to deliver.
