I would have Finn in the side too as he`s a genuine fast bowler,yet I think the selectors went with Bresnan as a more steady option and less likely to be clouted all around the ground. Bresnan`s too much of a muchness for what we already have really.

It depends what pace you bowl the short stuff at and what bounce you get, add to that a little movement and you have a game altering bowler.

That's my point..the selected bowlers aren't quick enough to bowl the short stuff so why were we doing it? And there was no swing out there..IMO was crying out for Finn

This tour has been a complete embarrassment for all our big players. Send them home and play younger development players who might show some pride and can't do any worse than our supposedly star players.

I am not a cricket player, but to me it looked like the main batsmen made repeated mistakes on shots to a degree that was unprofessional. It was misjudgement time and time again. It was a bit like a football defence failing to mark at freekicks again and again and again. Also some of our bowlers may be on the down slope of their careers. If I was England, and depending who they have taken on tour, I would let new players debut. In world terms both of these teams look well behind South Africa.

Yet he mainly took out our tail enders,which was the main difference between the two sides,their bowlers could bat a bit,ours couldn`t. Ryan Harris more often took our key wickets.

Seems to me the world of test cricket is becoming wider rather than narrower,with regard to the importance of winning the toss(lost all 3,though poor excuse) and ultimately home advantage being King.I expect to see the next 10 years or more now us losing there and winning here.

Half of Johnson's 23 wickets were the tail-enders. The 7 wickets he got from the top order were not impressive! Two wickets were against Trott who left after one test because of a long standing stress related condition, two more were the wickets of the woefully out of form Cook and he also got the wicket of Carberry who was batting for the first time on his Ashes debut.

The differnce has been that the Aussies have batted, bowled & fielded better as a team........ oh and the 7 centuries they got compared to our one.

Home advantage and winning the toss was in my opinion two big advantages,the Aussies made the best of the home conditions and used the pace and bounce of the pitches.We'll win the Ashes back in 2015 when we use our seamers in the same way that they used there pace.
