I wouldn't want a manager like Danny Wilson either when Adams eventually leaves. He's an old duffer on the managerial merry go round.

When the time comes, any new manager / management structure would have to take a holistic view. A lot of that will depend on Smurf's long term vision - will he continue with the Development Squad long term or is it one of Wildes' ideas that will quietly be forgotten about? If he decides the Dev Squad is worth persevering with then we would need a first team manager who will properly buy into it.

100% agree.

So no one is entitled to an opinion as to who would be a good successor to MA should it come to that? Wilson gets mentioned and no one is allowed to say whether they think he'd be a good appointment or not? Bizarre:(

Totally agree JA,i thought this message board was to talk football and have opinions, for me and I see what Santa says about Wilson but he has a good record if it is looked up and should Adams leave I think people are just saying that it wouldn't be the end of the world and that there are options out there.

Mind you I'm not sure about Wilson either...Corporal Jones would be more suitable "Don't panic!!!" :)

Wouldn't touch Wilson with a barge pole personally' date=' his record isn't up to Adams and he hardly made a success of his most recent job after getting much longer in it than Adams did.[/quote']

He doesn't have the promotions I agree but he has very good percentage ratings at clubs and some better than Adams(win ratios I mean not better clubs).

I don't think he did too bad at sheff utd tbh won-55 drew-31 lost-20 . percentage 51%

Who could blame him if he wanted to' date=' its a bliddy good job he confessed he doesn't read websites, if he read some of the negative posts on here he would run for the hills! :)[/quote']

I respect your posts REP and think you are a decent poster but some of your posts appear that we should be kissing Adams **** and although I don't want him to go if I have an opinion on him or anyone who could replace him then I will say it,noone should be kissing his **** imo.

I think you are right, I do overly defend him but more when peoople run him down, especially given what he the players did last season.

It won't be the end of the world I agree when he leaves and there will indeed be options out there.

To be fair he doesn't help himself with his attitude sometimes and its clear he is not everyone's cup of tea for a variety of reasons, that said however ultimately he has to be judged on results and nothing else so long as he isn't bringing the game into disripute and looking at how so many threads over the last week have been used as a stick to smack him with its been quite rediculous, particularly given the team actually won at the weekend which in football terms is the bottom line.

When he took over initially the choice was John Ward or him and i'm so glad it turned out to be him.

In relation to Wilson his record at United was decent but he underachieved over the two seasons he was there given they failed promotion on both occasions. There are however alternatives out there, Page included for me who for some reason (not historical) excites me.

Win ratios can be misleading, it's a dry stat with no context and there are a lot of factors that don't get taken into consideration.

Wilson at Sheffield United will always have a decent win ratio because that's the very least he's expected to achieve. In contrast to most other teams in League One, third place is a failure for a club of their size and resources.

A manager at a club punching above it's weight at a higher division will have a worse win ratio but it doesn't automatically follow that he's doing a bad job.

As I said here is one of your decent posts and tbh I try not to run him down only if results go down hill or as you say he says something stupid that will clearly wind people up.

I am with Cheeky that I really don't think he will be here next season(I actually hope I am wrong tbh) for one reason or another,i actually think if the Gillingham job comes up again he will go there,as for replacements I like Page also and think he has a great future at manager level,so I wouldn't mind him but if we were to go for one who has managed before then for me Wilson is one of the better options so I would also be quite happy if he came here.

Again I agree somewhat Santa me owd fruit but all I am saying is that Wilson will be one of the better experienced managers who could be available and one who I wouldn't mind if we appointed him,i like many would like to see Page given a go if Smurf is prepared to take a gamble as I think he could turn out to be a gem of a manager.
