Rudge out Horton in

Valiant Haze

Recommended Posts

At the time of Rudge's sacking, there were many that wanted him to remain, but there were also a vocal element that wanted him gone.

You don't get to choose the replacement....

Horton was the man - Again, I believe support for him after a while was split, say 50/50.

He's too expensive for Bratt's liking ( I fear this may happen again after listening to Smurf on P&G )

Foyle is the next - Cheaper alternative, untried - supporters love him.... ( Ala Page in some respects )

Results, performances and signings are poor - he's a gonner

Sinnott - Cheaper Alternative, untried ...A non-league gamble, with a good track record and a fine reputation.......say no more

Glover - Cheap, untried, supporters liked him as a player ....... say no more

Micky Adams - Fantastic track record from the top division down, with promotions a plenty. A coup you might say for PVFC

He stated at his meet the manager night that if one club in particular's job was open to him, then he may just go to his boyhood club...... what were the chances

Gannon - A steady past, with a history of being different in his footballing principles/style. I need not continue on his reign

Micky Adams returns - Eventually following administration he gets us promoted - Now FIVE games into the season, some supporters are attempting to berate the bloke & gather support for their dislike of the manager's frank talking press conferences...

The Managers List -

John Rudge England 1983 1999

Brian Horton England 1999 2004

Martin Foyle England 2004 2007

Lee Sinnott England 2007 2008

Dean Glover England 2008 2009

Micky Adams England 2009 2010

Jim Gannon Republic of Ireland 2011 2011

Micky Adams England 2011

Be careful what you wish for, because if the best manager since Rudge is forced out and the gamble of the next manager doesn't pay off...... Then the split you are seeing now with supporters will be nothing in comparison to then....

Lay off I say.

Completely agree.

I've not read many people's thoughts on what he hinted at in the press, but I've seen enough people on here previously bad-mouthing him. Vale are extremely lucky to have him.

Adam's may not be perfect. Yes he messes up some subs, and the formation isn't always right. And yes, he can be abrupt when making his thoughts known. Vale also lose sometimes too. But he's an excellent manager for this level; his pshychology and motivation is excellent, and I'm glad the club has a manager who's willing to be out-spoken... all of the best managers are. He also won the first promotion for Vale in what? over a decade? The way he dealt with Pope's problems recently was fantastic in my opinion, though over the heads of some people on here.

You should also consider how chopping and changing manager rarely works. Sticking to one manager over a prolonged period offers stability - something this club has only recently got after years of uncertainty. Arsenal may not have won anything, but they have stability and Wenger has kept them in a position where, with some money spent they are still capable of doing something.

It may be Adams himself who has hinted he may go, but maybe he's testing the water to see how much he's wanted here. He regularly mentions the fan-base as what attracted him to the club. Valiant Haze's post says all you need to know, the odds of finding the right manager after-Adams are not zero, but they are low. And the recent national news stories about this club will hardly be a carrot, either!

Pretty much agree with you on the whole, but I'm really not sure about this bit. Adams hadn't exactly been tearing it up at Coventry or Brighton. Pretty steady decline towards the lower leagues - not too dissimilar to Brian Little really, but better admittedly.

I too am aware of that, but if his record had nil blemish's then he would hardly be likely to be at PVFC would he!

Justifying his tenure with comparison against our previous **** managers?

We are a club that for once is looking to the future and having this rigid, old school manager will not help. We need to be developing and producing players to sell off so we can grow as a club otherwise we are looking at hopefully getting a cup run to bring in revenue..

Will be sure there are better managers out there.

This website is just full of trouble making, deluded morons like Karl who wrote the other thread. Some forget a year ago we were in administration and from that went on to get promotion and had 14,000 at our last home league match. Things are good, in fact they're better than good. Win today and we're mid table in League 1, a league with some very big clubs in it... Happy days.

I'm sorry Barry, but it happens all the time, you only have to look last week to see the damage a keyboard warrior can cause with that ***** who runs Port Vale Online. However, for my own sanity I won't go in to my feelings on that ********.

Supporting Port Vale is great at the moment, I believe we still have a good side, Adams is just searching for a winning formula and a settled 11. It's amazing how people look to exploit a couple of defeats to bring a bit of discontent.

Basically, looking at list of managers, with the exception of Horton and Adams it only proves that Bratt was clueless when it came to appointing.I suppose if we add Rudgie and McGrath to the list it may put things in a different light regarding ability.Would it be too much to expect a football club to be doing well when it has the best paid manager in it's history?.

I'm all behind Adams...yes he can moan like a ***** during radio interviews, but he had faith in the club when we were in Admin with no players and guided us back up. Now i'm sure that after 5 games he needs our support not people plotting. Get behind Micky and the team!!

Think he stayed with us because no one else wanted him, if someone wants him he will be off, don't believe all this "I'll only leave for Sheffield United" rubbish.

He doesn't care about PVFC, don't pretend otherwise.

Okay, we can all get annoyed at so called keyboard warriors, but OVF is anything but full of those described by your good self above.
