A true legend and I agree with all the fond memories of Tommy,especially the exploits at Wrexham.RIP Tom,so sadly missed.

My first hero as a nipper, loved Tommy only with the passing of time do you realise what a star and legend he was

Took my Mum and Dad to that Wrexham match - what a day, then went down to Blackpool for the night.

 

To us old 'uns he is a legend but not just a footballing legend. Tommy came from an era when Vale players and fans would regularly be socialising in the same place at the same time and there was none of this 'you're not worthy to talk to me' crap. Mind you they pulled when we didn't.

As a young kid Tommy was my favourite player. In those days you only got to know things via The Sentinel and I read the news walking to my first drop as a paperboy. Even though i was very young it was still a big shock to read of the tragedy.

 

He will always be a legend at VP & given his "attitude" on the pitch would probably not last 10 mins in todays game full of actors & divers.

 

As somebody has already written, Tommy was a real man's man and reputations didn't scare or bother him.

Good old Tommy - I used to love watching him take on his full back and keep going back for more.

I think he would be humbled but chuffed to know that we are still talking about him 35 years on.

Should have been sent off at Wrexham for fighting with Ex Blackburn coach whos name escapes me in front of 19000+ but John James got sent off instead.!

I met his cousin on holiday in Portugal, he couldn`t believe he was such a legend at the Vale, he thought it might be because he died so young but no I told him, he was a legend when he played. The only man ever in my memory to have a two minute silence, says it all.

Wouldn't it be great to have a statue of Tom on the front of the ground, no one would be more deserving, a lasting tribute to the great man
