The biggest bird to ever exist was the Elephant Bird from Madagascar. It was named the elephant bird due to myths about them picking up elephants in their claws and dropping them from great heights. Although, realistically it wouldn't have ever been airbourne, more like an osterich but its eggs were bigger than a human head. It is thought they were not extinct until around 1000 years ago when the first humans landed on Madagascar from the East surprisingly!

Why do two eggs of a very similar size, of identical temperature boiled for precisely the same amount of time cook differently... one hard one very soft?

 

if they're in the same pan for the same time they might have different thickness shells, different thickness whites, different amounts of minerals (a minimal effect, this one), all of which might imply they came from different hens.

Sorry, you mean the average (mean) number of legs on a human is less than two. If you look around, the average human (i.e. typical , as the use of the term "average" here is not mathematical, unlike the calculation of the mean) has two legs.
