He's dead right though. It's clear since Hughes came that Pope has been able to see Hughsie get space of his own to do what he does best, finish. Defences know Pope is in a rich scoring vein and for the moment have put a couple of defenders on him so Hughes must get some breathing space to do his business. Same is to be said for our wingers in so much that they both have at least 2 men marking them when we attack and this has to leave space for others to get into creative space. Let's hope we can give Popey(and all our fans) the wish that's so richly deserved in at least 2 promotions in quick succession. Wonder what the jealous red side of the Potteries will be thinking then?

Love to see him beat Wilf's record for the season. Bit of luck defences will start to double up on Hughes as well, that leave two on Pope, Two on Hughes. Everyone else can free score!

This is truly very good news. It not only shows that the player is Vale through and through, but that we surely have owners who are looking to the future and laying foundations for a bigger and better club - they have the financial clout to do so as far as we can tell and haven't put a foot wrong.

Let's not worry too much how many goals Tom scores for the rest of the season, if he is providing space for Hughes or otherwise contributing massively, then we will carry on winning and the actual scorers names don't matter.
