Bristol Rovers have today announced that at the start of the 2015 season they will kick off at a new 21,700 stadium (i have pasted the above just so you could see the pic of the stadium)

If they need any inspiration whatsoever, 10 years ago Swansea were adrift at the bottom of the football league.

I've been following that development for a while now. It's an interesting plan and I guess for Rovers it will hopefully lead to long-term stability (the Memorial Ground, as a small, former Rugby ground was really viable anymore).

 

My only gripe as a former Bristol resident is that Frenchay is some way out of the city (it's near the junction of the M32 with the M4) so it will be yet another out-of-town football stadium development.

There's a huge difference between Rovers and Darlington, Rovers get decent gates now... and they are bottom of the league, that capacity at a brand new stadium seems about right to me. Bristol Rovers, in my opinion have great potential.

Looks like a good plan for a ground either way, good luck to them. I certainly would'nt rank the memorial ground in my favourite grounds to visit...

Darlington springs to mind!

 

They've average attendance is 500 more than ours and look at the difference in positions!

 

Bristol Rovers are a club with serious potential down there, in no way a Darlington - look at the attendances Rotherham have been pulling in for christ sake compared to what they did before.

The stadium should work very well for them as it is going to be on the University of the West of England and will also be used by the University. I also believe Bristol Rugby are moving there as well. It is quite good for the location as it is out of the Centre of the City but in the Northern part surrounded by a lot of towns. The Rovers fans mainly come from the Northern part so it is ideal for them. Good transport links as well.

I wouldn't touch Plymouth with a barge pole. The location just puts people off for them to be anything more than a L1 good club and perennial Championship strugglers imo.

Catchment area says otherwise Bayern.......give them something to get their teeth into and they could well be like Hull City and Swansea......ie perenial lower league but potential large fan base

That's the problem thought isn't it? Getting the players there to give them something to cheer. Unless You could offer them stupid money then they won't go there. And if You're offering them stupid money then it's barely a decent investment unless You go the distance and get to the Premier League. And unless You get to the Premier League I can't see a footballing reason for investing if You want to make a shilling or two. Unless You sell various assets.
