Quote from BBC sport

" Hughes made 146 appearances for Notts, scoring 66 goals and was a key figure in the team that won the League Two title in 2009/2010. But he has struggled to win a regular place this season, starting just eight games. And now Adams wants to bring him in to add impetus to a Vale attack which has occasionally misfired this term - especially in home games.

You would not think we are the current top scorers in league 2 with 30 goals scored at Vale Park.

Aren't we still top scorers in the entire football league??

I think it's a good thing as it keeps Pope out of the limelight and away from prying eyes.

Wells possibly is a better prospect long term but Pope is about the here and now which is what counts.

Slightly O/T, but well done last night Bradford! Having said that, they have 1 point from 9 in past 3 league games, that includes conceeding FOUR in opening 33 mins at home to Rochdale & loosing 2-0 v chuffing Barnet! Hope they enjoy their cup run as for SURE it's gonna cost them and NO way I'd swop places with them.......

TV and Radio pundits only see as far as the Premier League. They then try and suggest they know about the "lower" leagues when a Club or player hits the headlines. Some then try and watch one or two matches and think they can form an instant opinion of everyone. Perhaps best Vale and Pope for time being do not get too many headlines or the writers and sports journalists will descend on Vale Park and cause more pressure than we need.

The second leg at Villa Park is on the Tues after they play us on the sat so the attendance may be down from their end on the sat as I think most of their fans would rather go Villa Park than to us

On the plus side they might have one eye on that game and not want to get injured so might play into our hands

They've got a JPT game next week before they play us too. A chance to take advantage of tired legs and minds.

We will no doubt finish the top scorers in Europe after the excellent addition of Lee Hughes

It is true though.

Every game we've lost at home this season to teams in our division (league and cup), we've failed to score. In fact, every league game we've played this season that we've lost we've failed to score. So they are right to say we've occasionally misfired. Until Plymouth we'd gone 3 home games without scoring.

It just doesn't appear that way looking at the table because we've when we've won at home in the league, we've never scored less than 3 goals. We've scored 3 goals twice, 4 goals in 3 home games and put 6 past Rotherham.

So out of 30 goals in 13 games, 24 have come in the 6 that we win. That leaves 6 in the other 7. So when we win we do it in style, but we do struggle for goals in quite a few games.

If you look at results, we have misfired at home occasionally. There are 5 teams in League Two who have won more at home than we have so the BBC are right to point out we could improve at home.
