There was a Sunday afternoon game against Grimsby in Division One/Championship which we won 3-1 (even Marcus Bent scored) and the crowd was 3737.

So was the Oxford game the other week, 2 divisions lower standard and 4596 turned up.

Barnet, 1,626 and Burton 1,712 tonight would bite ya hand off for 4,000 + !.......Oh and chuffing 2,472 at Fleetwood for their local derby v Accy!

As was said his evening, our club now, financially is in the best position it has ever been!

 

1) own our own ground & training facility

2) no morgage to service

3) no loans to service, club brought with purchasers own money

4) excellent gates for a league 2 and 1 really.. Club

5) riding high in the league will only increase our commercial stock...

 

Onwards and upwards!

Just go to this site, scroll down to Vale and click on it. You'll see our average attendances since Adam was a lad. Apart from some decent numbers in the 90s, the figures show Spunkers is talking sense for a change. ;)

Last one for me and then il let those moaning about attendances justify themselves if the want.

 

Port Vale 1-1 Swindon. Saturday 19 November 2005. League 1. Att 4108.

 

We had a bigger crowd tonight.

 

Perhaps a bit unfair that comparison but I know where you are coming from.

That particular season in League One we were in mid-table and had just lost our previous two home games to Hartlepool and Bradford so it was never going to be massive.

People only expect more fans because we are 2nd in the League and scoring loads of goals.

A lot of people on the radio and social media saying the supporters should come back now.

People also saying they are disapointed at the crowd of 4000 locals tonight.

 

If ive said it once ive said it a million times. Stop rewriting history. Take a look at our average attendances over the last 15 years. Indeed, even in the 70s and 80s when we were in this division.

Our crowds at the minute are superb for a club of our size in the 4th division.

Some folk moan when we ONLY get 5000!

 

Crowds will naturally increase over the season as the promotion push continues but please stop kidding yourself that we used to get 5000+ locals week in week out.

Take a look. We didnt. Not even in league 1 and some seasons in the championship we only averaged around 7000 when we had all the midlands teams and stoke coming to town.

 

A great turn out tonight and for the previous 9 home league games.
