Excellent news - McPhee was one of the most intelligent players I've seen at Vale Park, if he can pass on 10% of what he knows he'll be an asset. Shame we can't get Foyley back as a forwards' coach, that was one are of the job that he really excelled at.

Steve McPhee has been coaching the under 16 Academy lads with Paul Ede since the beginning of the season. Nice to see the Sentinel have got their fingers on the pulse once more

Once saw him play in a pre season friendly at Oswestry and having narrowly missed sticking one in, he ran right into the Vale fans behind the goal (as there wasn't much distance from terrace to pitch). 'Unlucky Ken' we said; he replied 'would you f***ing credit it, roll on April'. Classic.

I wouldn't call greedy mc'no'phee a Vale legend

He will have to discover some gems to make up for what went on when he left.

Still, he gave us some pleasure in his short time with us as a player.

His early years training in Holland should give him a different slant on coaching young players.
