Oxford admission price?

Recommended Posts

you assume dropping the price by £5 will add 1,500 to the gate, i dont think this will happen at all

interestingly we added 2000 to the gate v Gillingham at £20 FULL PRICE by playing a brand of football people were happy to pay to watch, sadly we played ***** football and this moving forward will hit us hard

if its a no brainer im very confident Bob Young will allow you to take a share of the profits if we get 6500 fans there at £15 as long as you are prepared to cover all the losses if only 4500 turn up

Its always easy to spend someone else's money. Initiatives need to tie people to the club for more than 1 game, if not the majority will just take advantage of a freebie.

Because not enough more people come to compensate for those who were coming anyway and then pay less. Hence, the club make less money.

Can anyone remember how much the ATTENDANCE INCREASED when had the game at the reduced rate of £5?

But you cannot use the Gillingham game as an example it was a ONE OFF. This was a top of the table clash on a Saturday. What about the matches versus your Cheltenhams and Rochdales on a wet and windy tuesday night?

The majority of those that attend are season tickets holders pretty sure the excess fans attracted woulld exceed income gained from keeping the prices at full price.

Look at the bigger picture- £25 to watch a premiership match down the road or fiver cheaper to watch basement football?? Somethings wrong somewhere?

The way I see it- the club actually OWE supporters who have been put off going due to the scandalous goings on at the club in recent years. Reward the fans who have stayed away for the great support when the club was enjoying the Rudgie era- the fans played a big part then. Get the true fanbase back and reduce the prices. After all, this is the bottom division for gods sake!!!

The club (Port Vale FC) owe the fans nothing. Sure, you could argue the former board do, for the way they treated supporters, but they have gone now and have nothing to do with the club. You can't blame the club (Port Vale FC) for the acts of a few.

Personally, I don't care how much it costs the combination of entertaining football and no political issues has made my love for the club stronger. In a funny sort of way, if it hadn't been for the last few years, the good feeling surrounding the club now, may not have felt so good.

1) No evidence that it will generate more income - 'pretty sure' is a hunch not a fact, and could / would more than likely result in a lower take at the gate.

2) Premier League teams are not reliant on gate money as it is a minor income stream for them. That is how Wimbledon survived in the top flight for so long. That is an issue for football in general. Many casual supporters will only attenend 4/5 games a season whether the cost be £5 or £20 on the gate

Yes it was a deakin initiative for a friday game last season that resulted in no increase in the attendance at all. People who moan they won't pay 20 quid complain they won't pay 10 quid when it's ten quid for JPT and would complain 5 quid was too much for Oxford because you can watch it on sky for free in a pub. It's a business (or should be), not a charity.
