Summer transfer rumours/speculation and retained list

Would anyone take Kian Harratt and maybe Tom Conlon on a free then try and buy Nathan Smith Back
Good God no! Tom Conlon had 1.5 good seasons 4 years ago. Kian Harratt had one good game for us and is thick as mince. Our defence has been pretty good without Nathan Smith. He was a great servant but a limited footballer. In spite of our poor season, it was the right decision and remains so.

Let's look outside of former players.

You can't just cherry-pick League games and pretend that is all that counts - all competitions are important.

Kyle John was one of our more reliably available players, and one of the most committed when on the pitch.

I do agree with you that we have often had too many injury-prone players in the squad, and that reality has to improve.

Hopefully, the new top-class pitch will help, but again I agree that we also have to be improving upon the robustness of the players we sign.

The amount of league games he has missed is relevant but I have also pointed out that whilst he may not be the worst in our squad that doesn't mean much because our squad is particularly bad for injuries and even if we include all games his 36 from 61 games is still poor compared to other teams in our league alsts eason. He managed a little under 60% of the matches and you say he was our 8th best in terms of availability. That is not sustainable especially if JB wants a smaller squad.

I mentioned that  Lincoln have 11 players who played 38 or more games over the season ( to remind you we had 5 and john wasn't one of them) To that I would add that Cardiff had 13 players who played 38 or more games Stockport county had 7 Bradford city had 9 Bolton had 9 Stevenage had 9 Luton had 10 so you can't keep claiming that 36 games a season is normal, accepted or good enough because the stats simply don't back that up. Those are the top 7 teams in league one last season I can't be bothered to go down the entire list but it is clear that 36 games isn't good no matter how many times you claim that it is by comparing him to our squad of crocs.

I like john, I do, but pointing out his lack of availability is a valid criticism. Hopefully it was just bad luck but I hope Jb is taking note of our squads vulnerability in terms of injuries and addresses it.

I suspect this is tongue in cheek but on the off chance you are serious my answer would be that if you gave me a week I wouldn't be able to think of a single valid reason for bringing any of those back.

Ryan Inniss also released by FGR, so wouldn’t even command a fee 😉

I’m back after a self imposed exile second half of last season. Hope everyone well. Looking forward to trawling through the 400 odd pages this summer of past players, has beens who can still do a job, non league starlets, existing squad members not up to it and perhaps the odd Bruno style flair foreigner.

What I’ve learnt this season is that once it all starts, the light is more than ever shine on the recruitment. It’s no longer a manager wants someone game, there are many people involved and PVFC need a plan, communicate the plan to the team & fans and try to execute.  In Div 4 we are probably a bigger team in terms of budget, I think Brady is a shrewd cookie who knows what he wants and I have no doubt the owners will back him.

futures bright, futures black and white.

Yes great suggestion. I'd also get Tom Pett back, Sam Hornby, maybe Massey can do a job still. How old is Leon Legge ? Commanding centre half. Jake Taylor would jump at the chance too , currently at Southport.

Come on Brady. Sort it.

Bring Griff out of retirement, can't pass for toffee but I reckon still got a tackle in him.

I think Northampton fans heads will explode when they see that retained list how few of their senior pro’s they’re moving on.

They have only released 3 senior players and I think it's fair to say they are not happy.

Haven't we all?
