Remember my Oxford mate was saying they did rate him but that was obviously well over a couple of years ago now. 

Goalkeepers careers are really weird to look at from a data point of view and it can be hard to judge them objectively after a bad spell. They either get games or they don't. He made some mistakes when playing and they've really tainted him. At least he's still in employment.

We mix it up. 

Played some lovely football at times and scored some great team goals.

Do we utilise Stockley, of course we do. But there's no way we can be classed a long ball team. 

I'm sure we are all waiting for the expensive piece of the jigsaw, a quality striker. However they don't come cheap , certainly one who is an improvement on our front two. Interesting thought as we have a strong midfield is there a chance we won't sign another striker but DM will use Rico and Curtis as strikers? Also might he give Paton another chance? Remember Tolaj struggled early on in the season, was that because of the step up in League or the isolation of one up front. Once when DM saw the light and played 2 strikers Tolaj flourished, could a similar thing happen with Paton. Could solve an expensive problem.

Don't see it sadly with Paton. Not sure what formation Dundee United played ?

Tolaj was a different animal from January onwards however he still had 4 assists and 2 goals in the early part of his season and generally was far more dangerous than Paton. 

I hope I'm wrong and I'm sure Paton is working his conkers off in training. Anticipate we'll see him notch at Castle or Kidsgrove and folk be clamouring for him.

I just don't think he's quite up to the mark unfortunately, but Ultimately DM will decide. 

 

Agree with MITP.

Would be interesting to see what Paton offers in a 2 up top, linking with Stockley/Tolaj.

Ehhh not quite. We do play the ball about but we are quite pragmatic about it as opposed to Crosby's religious, possession at all costs approach. Often the players at the back will be passing it about just to slow things down.

They varied based on opposition, 451 common and rarely 2 up top. Obviously didn't work out for him. 

He doesn't have the pace at this level (or SPL), but I do think he would link up alright in a two and he's not the worst option to have on the pitch. 

Think he gets another chance, and we will try find a striker anyway, whether permanent or on loan.

Looking strong for league 1 with plenty of league 1 and some Championship experience good height and certainly a lift in mobility/athleticism/pace for the level.

Its coming together as long as they all have the same work ethic and ability as last season ,and are all in tune should be a good season where we move forwards in a league we have failed to do so 2 out of last 3 seasons in there .

Not that i dont expect defeats, of course there will be some ,its how you lose will determine how Vale  do
