Port Vale v Salford City match thread - 22nd Feb

Thought we were decent then, and I would be saying the same if the goal hadn’t gone in. Horrible side these…big, physical, running down the clock at every opportunity. Great finish from Hackford, and only a cracking save from the goalie denied him beforehand. He’s got two, often three players on him and he’s not a physical player. And that flick early doors for Curtis???! But Curtis…another great half for him, one lovely assist, one blocked that was heading in, couple of dangerous freekicks. We’ve played some good football at times, as you’d expect with the midfield we have on, both WB’s been ok. Plenty of positives. Think we’ll have to dig in this half, think they’ll be dangerous off corners & freekicks. Goooooooarrrrn lads!

They all cant press, thats a man city way to disaster

He does nothing when they have the ball, doesn’t press, doesn’t stop the crosses. You ain’t got to be a world beater to do that.

Hackford continues to be underrated, I see. Considering we all know our biggest issue without Stockley and Tolaj is lack of cutting edge, it seems a bit daft to be digging out our best finisher for his weaknesses, especially when he's doing his main job pretty well. He's also won a few free kicks and is working hard in the press. He's not perfect, but he's doing absolutely fine for me.

Really loving Curtis's desire again today too.

He’s played very well so far.

He needs to press more. Curtis won us the goal, Hackford need to do more of the same. He’s static when they have the ball.

Hang on I’m not having this. Yes Curtis was brilliant in terms of his involvement but there’s been plenty of Vale forwards down the years who would have fluffed their lines when through like that.

I like Hart. Thought he was really good before his injury then struggled a bit when he returned, just needs to be stronger at times for me

YEESSS! Beaut!

Get in

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL

Bang!!! Where's the guy who said this game was unwinnable without Garrity?

Fantastic team goal, from Amos's start to Harper's finish!

Get in there Harper.

Another goal please Vale to really rub it into Salford.  They are going to crumble now and hopefully not kick our players all over the pitch.
