Pre season fixtures

Recommended Posts

I hope we don't play Stoke City in the foreseeable future. It's too much grief. I guess if they get relegated and us promoted next season - quite a possibility - then fair enough, it would have to happen. But overall playing them is way too much off the pitch grief.

It's a good payday for our local non league teams and harbours good relationships. Nothing wrong with playing them sides.

Remember going Parkway Clayton in the 80's and the mighty Les Lawrence scored. Found his level ! .

Financially it helps the non league teams but does it help us ?

I really enjoy the Newcastle Town games.

Usually a lovely sunny day.

Can have a beer stood watching the game.

Usually win 4-0.

Get to see the new signings for the first time.

It's great!

Just playing devils advocate but would you swop a sunny day, 4-0 win and a beer knowing that you’re watching a vale team that looks good enough to compete !!!!

You wouldn't need police at that match and Vale could still allow drinks in the seating as it is a low key match.

It may also raise a 4,000 attendance...may even attract some Stoke fans.

Trust me Newcastle town are 100% Stoke city !!!!

It's just usually a glorified training exercise. In reality just getting minutes into legs. I don't think it harms us. Usually a slow build up and we're all good to go for the opening day ( ahem 😉) .

You obviously don't live in the area...So I'll excuse your ignorance.

Compared with when I last did live in the Potteries - 1958 to 1987 - it's a super clean place now. But I take that some aspects can still be a problem.

It's about time Vale invited Newcastle to play at Vale. The Lyme valley fixture is boring.

This is the only time that I will agree with you but you are right. I have said this on here over the past couple of seasons, this fixture and Kidsgrove is getting a little bit boring and I personally do not think it’s fair on the other local non league teams when we help fill the coffers of those two teams every summer.
Spread the the love with other local non league sides
