This is the crux of it but Vale fans don't need facts to choose their annual scapegoat. 3 ex players I speak to from different generations (60s, 80s and 2010s) have all said that they never recieved abuse of their own fans anywhere else but the Vale. One player who used to play for Stoke said he got booed when he scored! We are a different breed.

yep we certainly are - And I think this is part of the charm offensive coming out of DM and CEO mouths this week, its a desparate call to arms

Iv only ever followed the Vale, it would be interesting to know from others what their fan bases are like.

In fairness I cant remember the vile abuse of any of our players in the late 80s and 90s - the glory years in effect - notable exception being poor Barry Siddall (Am I remembering correctly him taking off his goalie shirt to parade a stoke shirt underneath🤣🤣🤣🤣 ) Bury?

This is not a criticism of Auntie Carol in the slightest, however, when we are throwing mud at David Flitcroft and his lack of signings, when all said and done, we dont actually know what, if any budget he had available.

There is the scenario in an alternate universe where that DF is actually the non-fall guy for Carol, taking the majority of the flak when equally he has his own hands tied with a lack of funds.

Who knows, but out of all the scenarios put out there, I dont think this is that far fetched.

All I know is that if words were to come out of the club saying that we are skint, fans would be far more forgiving and a lot of those now not attending would probs come back into the fold

You’ve hit the nail on the head there , that’s why carol has defended Flitcroft because she knows the restraints he’s working under here is £300 go get me a decent motor

Im hoping that Carol stays and looks at different ways to increase the budgets both short (could we have a stadium sponsor e.g. The Autonet stadium and a different shirt sponsor), mid (could shares be sold?) and long term (current long term plan proposal, potential extra investors or is there a potential buyer for the club?).

With her limited personal and company disposable cash the long term plan is much needed and hopefully will reap the rewards, however its the short and mid term where we need to fill gaps ASAP, as even with a well known manager we will struggle to attract the players we need to progress with a bottom 6 budget in league 1 or playing in league 2.

Ref DOF, we have an inexperienced/first time DOF, probably also a cheaper option as probably all that Carol could/can afford, in my opinion Carol has 3 options, (1) Get rid and share responsibilities of role at end of season (would we even need a DOF in league 2 if we were to go down?) (2) Back the DOF with a better budget and see if things improve (3) Bring in an experienced DOF and see if can be more savvy with the budget

All she needs to do, whether we stay up or not, is to sack Flitcroft or at the very least, take him away from everything football. The fans don’t want her to sell. They just don’t want another atrocious transfer window.
Its pretty much that in a nutshell.
Put him to work on the turnstiles.

I have changed my mind, Carol out. I just read that today we are using a rainbow ball. How woke can we go. How pathetic when we have bigger concerns at the moment. I am now so totally psised off that I just give up. Fcku off Vale. We deserve to go down.  I am done.

Why is it pathetic? - They are awfully nice colours - Niece bought me an official prequal LQBGTQIA+ bobble hat last christmas, and I will be wearing it today - nowt wrong with it.

For clarification purposes, I identify as a Hoppers, am a heterosexual male, with a signed thank you card from Big Bertha after the successful completion of a two girl special session at Kellys Place - Thank you 👏👏👏👏

I dont get involved in all the woke stuff - we all are what we are, and as long as we arnt doing anyone any harm - then rock on  - lifes too short (and so am I 🙈🙈)

And besides all that, it might help Lofty see the bloody thing when its coming near him

I identify as a fan of Port Vale Football Club......which no longer exists. We are now Port Vale Politically Woke lobbyist group, which happens to have a really <ovf censored> football team.

There are bigger issues in the world if we wanna go political as a club, gays, lesbians, nobody gives a damn anymore, this is so last century, it really boils my urine as we slide to oblivion again.

Slightly off topic. But I went a gig to see a band and it turned into a similar woke fest with the lead singer rambling on. Utter baloney. I'd gone to see music not be preached to.

Best suggestion I've read was to stick a bell in the ball .

Just to clarify, the whole thing with the rainbow ball is an EFL thing, not a Vale thing.

But yeah this stuff, it matters and makes a difference to the minority / marginalised. Pretty much the whole point to it.

Does it though?

I can't begin to speak for that community. But does having a rainbow ball send out any real message?

If anything it's almost patronising.
