We are now running the latest version of VBulletin.

 

This means there are a host of new features including a mobile-friendly style to use on your phones.

 

Please note I am NOWHERE NEAR finishing this as there is still loads to do, but the good news is that I can make all the remaining changes without switching the forum off.

The mobile access is the MAIN reason for doing this upgrade. It should be simple to use from a phone now.

 

I also want to point out the following bits and bobs:

 

1. I've set the forum up so that unregistered users see more adverts than registered users. This is an incentive to stay logged on (and means the lurking guests pay the OVF butler and chauffeur bills)

 

2. I will be working on the overall OVF home page. The user control panel has returned (that's the thing that displays your avatar and private messages) and I will be working on a new "latest posts" component soon along with "online users" - so in effect a return to the old style of displaying those things. This will take time!

 

3. I am working on correcting the centering issue

 

4. The forum will also be eventually linked up with Facebook. I believe this enables you to login with FB and also have notifications of replies to your messages etc. I need to check it all through before I make it live though...

You mean you were up all night and still haven't finished? Tut tut! ;-)

 

Thanks for the "New Posts" link on the front page. It is excellent for folks who have a life outside of all things PVFC in that when you come back you see all the new posts and all the threads with posts that you haven't read. Much easier to keep up, even for old f*rts like me.
