Cov saw red on opening day,
A slow start later,
Then Forest away.

We came, we saw, we conquered,
Confidence was built,
Many fans were hoping,
For a top 7 finish tilt.

Couple of games later,
At last we're on a streak,
Swindon, Harrogate, Scunny,
All well & truly beat.

Next one up felt really big,
Orient at home,
Looking back with hindsight,
It really set the tone.

2-1 down & no chance,
With just injury time to play,
Den & Proc smashed goals home,
To save the blessed day.

Clarkey sliding on his knees,
Stadium gone wild,
Belief back at Vale Park,
Opposition riled.

Smack in the chops at Sutton,
Same old Vale we thought,
A lucky draw at Stags,
A peno save to report.

Then 17 goals in just 4 games,
Including 5 in FA Cup,
Sky came knocking for Bradford,
Oldham (A), messed it up.

Injuries & Covid,
Boxing day spent alone,
Finally returned v Brentford,
Kian heads one home.

Next up Swindon (H),
Karate kicks & all,
10 men well beaten,
The beginning of a fall.

Annual new year wobble,
Well & truly in full flow,
Scraping points here & there,
Colchester, what a blow.

All our love & thoughts with Darrell,
Family matters most,
Football became irrelevant,
Crosby took up the post.

Winning 8 of our next 9,
The lads had done us proud,
A brotherhood behind the scenes,
Salford away, so loud!

Engine low on fuel,
Spluttering against the Gas,
Well & truly beaten,
Had we let our chances pass?

One last shot, Exeter away,
Willo took his chance,
Vale fans beamed back to,
Hamil in a trance.

First time in the playoffs since 1993,
Rudgie, Taylor, Aspo,
My Grandad came with me.

Under those Twin Towers,
We dreamed, we hoped, we prayed,
With Swanny's sending off,
We never made the grade.

7 back then & 36 now,
Swindon came to town,
We saw them off on penalties,
Conroy, Williams & the clown.

Come on Vale, Come on Vale,
This seasons been so long,
Onto Wembley we're all so proud,
For one last Vale song.

We'll travel down to Wembley Way,
In black & white & gold,
We'll take the Wonder with us,
& Penny Arcade of old.

Sons & daughters, mums & dads,
Grandad Denis too,
Under the arch... not the towers,
In 2022.

Brilliant, should be framed along with the photo and hung in the corridors of "Power" in the Lorne St Stand as a memory of season 2021/22. I would imagine Carol and Kevin would love it, send it/get it to them somehow.
