Marc Richards - Restores faith

Recommended Posts

First of all my aplogies to Admins, but i really do feel Marc deserves a thread of appreciation of his own.

Those that know me know that im a big fan of Rico & have been since the day he signed, the one thing Foyley was good at was spotting a striker and Marc is no exception. I have always said if he gets a supply line then he will finish them off. However he is more than goals, & anyone who witnessed our collapse v Chesterfield a few seasons ago when he went off injured with us well on top will know his value overall.

There are some who in the past have labelled him greedy, however he has to my knowledge turned down bigger wages on three occassions:

Remember Luton away after our relegation season? he turned Cheltenham down. He has also turned down i believe Bradford twice and now Crawley! Some people question why he stays but i believe its down to a number of reasons, loyalty to Adams, a settled family, and the will on a professional level to see the club back up.

Hes not on twitter no more due to a few morons giving him grief, however i would like to say thank you Marc first of all for your loyalty, second of all for your goals & thirdly for restoring my faith in football loyalty, i thought the days of people doing a Steve Bull (turning down better money to stay at a club) were long gone.

Cheers Marc and i hope your loyalty is rewarded as a PVFC player when we have new owner(s) (hopefully Mo) in place.

I fully agree he is a massive influence in the squad and those who I go the game with already know how good I think he is and how much he inspires the players. A great player and will become a Vale legend if he keeps it up.

I watched his interview on Valiant Player earlier, he's a credit to Port Vale Football Club. He loves this club through and through, wears his heart on his sleeve and always stays loyal to us.

I've got a lot of respect for Marc Richards, I saw him out with Collins and Pope once and we got chatting about Vale - although he'd had a few drinks, he still told me he loves this football club to bits.

Absolutely. I can't believe people ever knocked him. He is a constant thorn in the side if defences, and centre halves know they have been in a g game afterwards. It's most notable when he doesn't play, as we miss his presence massively.

Marc is a class act, both on and off the pitch.

I always knew his worth to the team despite some of the grief he used to get from some quarters on OVF. He's our top goalscorer, simple as. He's a very good League One striker, let alone at our level. His goalscoring record at Barnsley speaks for itself, aswell as with the Vale.

But it's not just that he's our top goalscorer (and has been for quite some time now). He brings others into the game really well with his build-up play by holding the ball up exceptionally well.

Rico, I salute you! You're a top Professional!
