In relation to this, maybe the the council, together with who ever is appointed to oversee the process of administration, can negotiate with the F.A. rather than give us a 10 point reduction next season give us a ten point differencenext season, this will enable the club to push for the playoffs, if successful, bigger gates next season enables a quicker return for their investment, a much needed boost for players and fans alike, and will without a doubt be a major factor in attracting a prospective buyer.

So come on get talking to the F.A. you know it makes sense.

The idea is to punish and act as a deterrent not to help!

I think if someone like Ken Bates negotiated a deal like that for Leeds we might get a little upset. At the moment we are incurring the wrath of most of the SOT council tax payers, you could add all the fans of League 2 clubs to that.

What the tax payers in stoke fail to see is that swimming pools, and other facilities that coming under cuts while they are important to the community they dont generate income, the public sector drains it, and this comes from someone whos wife has lost her job in the cuts.

The vale will generate income at some point and that is the difference.

Why the hell would we want a ten point deduction next season...

Fenton Manor and Dimensions swimming pools, lose £2,000,000 a year (council picks up the tab between the fees charged for usage and running costs).

There is a £4.6m maintenance bill to be found over the next few years on top of the £2m a year, as the facilities age and need repairing - was in the sentinel last week.

The private company that runs The Regent receives £500,000 to £750,000 subsidy each year to stage "community theatre shows" and keep trading and open.

The £1.7m loan and £0.6m cost of admin over the 8years of "V2001 board" are a ahem "snip" at £285,000 a year subsidy!

Councils shouldn't be bankrolling private businesses, alas with the incompetence of the board being inquorate it is a) liquidation - your call council. Not a great position for the council to be in with a 100year-old football club in one of the most economically poor parts of England let alone S-o-T. There would be little at all in Burslem if the club was bulldozed.

The council shouldn't have to, but forced to really: Not good times!

I think that's the best argument of the lot for the City Council's stance.

People forget that football clubs and other businesses of this kind bring people into the City, and more importantly the City's businesses, so are important tools for regeneration. A disappeared Vale would do the whole of the City no favours as businesses living off income from matchdays would go under; hence no business rates; hence reduced budgets and more cuts.

Perhaps the moaners in the Sentinel would do well to remember that.
