what about a benefit match??

Recommended Posts

This HAS to be when the current lot are out...or it will just make things worse

Fritter, there's no way they can hold on any longer. One of two things will happen:

1. They will enter administration helped by the Council at the start of next week. Administrators will run the club in the short-term, a buyer will be found in a few months (hopefully).

2. The club will be liquidated.

The first option I am sure will happen, it's in the creditors interests to do it this way. Basically, we will be in admin by the end of next week, no harm in preparing for what happens after that immediately.

As im reading abt ex players tweets wishing us well etc... it got me thinking ..why dnt we arrange a benefit match...??... ex players like tayloe.bright, foyle etc..etc... vs whoever?... money goes towards giving new owner a decent start?...id work for free no problem there...and sure other stewards would?..just a idea..wondering what you think?

Other clubs who have been in strife like us have had top teams play a benefit match. Also fans from other clubs have travelled to support clubs in need when their team are not playing or are away from home. Remember Accrington Stanley had both of these happen only about 2-3 years ago.

ive said for a year or 2 now we should have the vale v stoke friendly at vale park for pre season we would easily get 15,000-20,000, the only chance we have playing each other these days is in the cups and as we struggle to get to the 3rd round these days pre season would be the best way to play each other. when i was growing up we used to play each other and it would generate us some much need extra money compared to playing the likes of walsall etc at home

Great idea and certainly a goer. I think Vale vs Stoke old boys would be good. Loads still live in the area and would be happy to play for nowt, I think a few lardies would go too.

Someone should take the lead - ideally the SC. I would be happy to help in some way.

Who would Dave Brammer play for though:unsure:

Don't think there would be anywhere near that level of interest for a friendly, lots of people on holiday for a start around that time. Plus a big chunk of any potential profit would be swallowed up in policing costs unfortunately.
its only vale fans who are saying that all the stokies are gagging to play us so the away end would be full in my opinion. so its how interested vale fans would be ?

I'd like to think that we'd all do whatever we could to help. I think we need to sit tight until we know exactly what's happening and we can then make plans.

There have been some great suggestion and I believe that many would be feasible but anything we do needs to be properly organised and probably under the banner of the SC.
